UNSDG Goal 04: Quality education

We take education for granted in our everyday lives. When we research on the internet, read books or take part in workshops. Lifelong learning is an integral part of our personal and professional development.

The United Nations has proclaimed Goal 4, which aims to achieve sustainable development, equitable and quality education for all. It is about providing access to education for all without barriers, improving educational opportunities and increasing learning outcomes for all ages. The vision is a world in which everyone receives the education they need for a successful and satisfying life.

Organizations can contribute to this by implementing their goals. Here are three examples:

  • Technology companies: Software companies could provide online learning platforms and applications for free or at low cost to schools and non-profit educational projects. This enables access to high-quality learning resources for a wide range of users, regardless of their location or income.
  • Companies from all sectors: Any companies can offer internship and apprenticeship programs. In their own training programs, they could focus on teaching key skills for the current job market. By working with educational institutions, they can ensure that the curricula are relevant to practice and that graduates are well prepared for their professional future.
  • Retail businesses: Businesses can support local schools by donating materials needed for educational operations, such as books, computers and other learning tools. This helps to improve the quality of education while closing the resource gap that many educational institutions face.
