UNSDG Goal 03: Good health and well-being
In everyday life, we are constantly encouraged from all sides to live healthily. We are told to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly and attend preventive check-ups with care. And and and…
Unfortunately, we humans often take our health for granted. We only discover its true value when we are ill. What makes health promotion even more difficult is that we often experience more appreciation from others when we are ill than when we are healthy. Get well soon…!
Awareness of the value of health and personal responsibility for our health reflects the basic idea of the third goal of the United Nations –“health and well-being“. The aim is to ensure a healthy life for all ages and to promote the well-being of all. This includes the targeted reduction of illnesses and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The aim is also to contribute to general healthcare provision.
Organizations can contribute to this goal with various measures. Some examples:
- Healthcare: A clinic could offer patients and visitors workshops on topics such as healthy eating and stress management to increase awareness and personal responsibility for their own health.
- Educational institutions: Schools could strengthen interdisciplinary health education in their curricula. Through projects on healthy eating, exercise and mental health, young people can develop a better understanding of health.
- Companies: Companies could offer flexible working time models and home office options to reduce stress and improve work-life balance. In addition, companies could provide subsidies for sports activities or gym memberships to promote the physical well-being of employees.
