Important skills for digitalization

Depending on your own talents and preferences, digitalization can be daunting. For some, it is super easy and for others it is a closed book. However, successful digitalization requires far more than IT know-how. And you can always buy in know-how if you need it.

5 important skills for digitalization

  1. Digital literacy: Ability to use digital technologies, this includes everything from basic computer skills to the use of specialized software.
  2. Data analysis: Ability to recognize the benefits of data, identify, store and analyze the “right” data in order to gain meaningful insights.
  3. Agile working: A way of working that emphasizes personal responsibility, flexibility, rapid adaptability and continuous improvement.
  4. Communication and cooperation skills: The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across locations and time zones in interdisciplinary teams and with cooperation partners.
  5. Unlearning and creative learning: the ability to leave behind the “tried and tested” and the ability to use creativity to rethink things using digital possibilities from the perspective of all generations.

Since digitalization is so incredibly comprehensive, it is impossible to have all the skills. So there is little point in bemoaning your own weaknesses.

It is much more promising to acquire basic skills that you can use in everyday life. You can also play to your personal strengths and develop specific skills that come easily to you and are valuable in the long term.
