UNSDG Goal 06: Clean water and sanitation

In everyday life, we turn off the tap when brushing our teeth. When showering, we make sure we don’t waste water carelessly. And we are increasingly using the water-saving buttons in our toilets.

These small actions reflect the core idea behind the UNSDG goal – “Clean water and sanitation for all“. The goal addresses the essential role of water in our daily existence and environmental sustainability, including the protection of natural water sources and the efficient use of water in industry, agriculture and households.

Organizations can make significant contributions to this goal with various measures. For example:

  • Gastronomy: Cafés and restaurants can install water spas and use rainwater to irrigate their outdoor areas to minimize water consumption.
  • Construction industry: Construction companies can contribute by using modern technologies such as water-efficient sanitary facilities and integrating water treatment systems into their projects.
  • Winter sports industry: Ski lift operators can invest in water-saving snow cannons and implement measures to minimize melt water run-off and promote sustainable water use in their operations.
