UNSDG Goal 12: Sustainable consumption and production

In everyday life, we make sure we produce less waste by using reusable containers for our lunches or avoiding unnecessary packaging. We also separate our waste and recycle it where possible. We increasingly prefer products that have been produced in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

The 12th goal of the United Nation -” Sustainable consumption and production” – stands for sustainable development. It is about promoting  sustainable consumption and production patterns in order to use resources efficiently. In short, the goal aims to minimize environmental impact and ensure that future generations can live in a healthy Sustainable World environment.

Organizations can make a significant contribution to this goal with clever measures. Here are three examples:

  • Retail: By introducing reusable packaging systems, retailers can reduce waste and encourage customers to consume more sustainably.
  • Production companies: The manufacturing industry can reduce material and energy consumption by optimizing their production processes. This minimizes both waste and emissions.
  • IT and technology companies: Technology-related companies can provide cloud solutions and promote digital services. This allows them to reduce the need for physical products and thus conserve resources.
