UNSDG Goal 07: Affordable and clean energy
In our daily lives, we can consciously save energy by switching off the lights when we leave a room and preferring energy-efficient household appliances. When buying new electronics, we can make sure that they are environmentally friendly and consume little electricity.
These decisions reflect the basic idea of United Nations Goal 7 – “Affordable and clean energy”. The goal aims to improve access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. The aim is to make global energy consumption more efficient and increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. In addition, everyone in the world should have the opportunity to use it.
To achieve this goal, organizations from various sectors can contribute with simple but effective measures. Here are three examples:
- Gastronomy: Restaurants and cafés can switch to energy-efficient
kitchen appliances and thus reduce their energy consumption.
They can also effectively save energy by using solar energy to heat water. - Textile industry: By installing solar panels on factory roofs, textile manufacturers can use renewable energy for their production and thus reduce their carbon footprint.
- Public sector: Municipalities can convert street lighting to LED, which leads to considerable savings in energy consumption. In addition, public facilities such as schools and administrative buildings can be equipped with photovoltaic systems to contribute to local energy production.
