UNSDG Goal 15: Life on land

We enjoy spending time in nature, be it walking in the woods, tending our gardens or supporting reforestation projects. These activities are contributions to promoting a healthy planet.

The United Nations’ 15th goal – “Life on Land” – aims to protect or restore terrestrial ecosystems in order to promote their sustainable use. It is about preserving biodiversity. In short, this goal strives to keep our green earth in a healthy state for future generations.
organizations in can effectively contribute to this goal with mostly little effort. Here are three examples:

  • Education: Educational institutions could use their outdoor areas as eco-learning centers. For example, they could create botanical gardens with native plant species or develop environmental education programs that directly involve pupils and students in conservation projects.
  • Airlines: They could get involved in reforestation and the protection of forest areas by planting a tree for every flight ticket they sell.
  • Design industry: Designers could contribute by creating sustainable products that are made from scratch from recycled materials. For example, furniture designers could create pieces of furniture that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also biodegradable.
