How can you prepare well for the assessment interview?

In a good assessment, your interviews will already be useful if you come without preparation but with an open and positive attitude. With preparation, however, you can take the whole conversation to a higher level.

You could do the following for your preparation:

Think about likely questions from the assessor team

The assessor team usually brings a list of questions about the planned topics of discussion. They are interested in finding out how you set your goals, how you achieve them and whether you actually achieve what you set out to do. However, be prepared that sometimes unexpected topics may come up. It can happen that even the subtleties of a topic that does not seem so important at first glance are looked at more closely.

The basic principles of business excellence are quite easy to understand. Once you have internalized the basic concept, you will find it easier to understand the logic behind the assessors’ questions. More importantly, these principles will inspire you to optimize and simplify your own work. And that is exactly what Business Excellence aims to achieve.

You know your daily work processes, the reasons for them and the way in which you carry them out very well. The assessors, on the other hand, are not familiar with them at first. Documents such as process descriptions, case studies, key performance indicators and reports can help to make your work more tangible for the assessors. Also be honest about areas that need improvement, are incomplete or under development. Be open about your plans and actions you intend to take to improve your work in the future.

You are usually in a group during the discussions. Agree who will take the lead on certain topics and who will be responsible for taking notes. After the interview, you should sit down together to discuss the insights gained and develop them further.

Please ensure that you have access to the important systems during the meeting and can present content online if required. It is best to conduct the interviews directly at your workplace instead of in meeting rooms.
