Cuddle hormone oxitocin

Oxitocin, the hormone for touch and bonding, commonly known as the happiness or “cuddle hormone”: The well-known speaker Simon Sinek told a beautiful story: A mother is pushing a baby carriage. She doesn’t notice that the cuddly bunny has just fallen out. I pick it up and give it to the mother. She is happy and smiles gratefully. I smile back and have a little oxitocin rush. You too! A few meters further on, I’m waiting at the pedestrian crossing and notice someone looking at me from the side. He says: “I saw what you did earlier, that was cool of you.” That’s the third happiness hormone I’ve received, because just watching acts of generosity triggers a surge of oxitocin. Our body wants to teach us to do more connecting things. The more cuddle hormone we have, the more we want to help. Oxitocin is healthy. It reduces addictions, it strengthens the immune system, it makes us stronger, we live longer. Couples live longer.
