UNSDG Goal 17: Partnerships to achieve the goals

In everyday life, we strive every day to maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships. Be it in the family, with our best friends or in our own relationship. We consciously try to support each other and maintain a good relationship. This requires us to make individual efforts that are precisely tailored to our partnerships. The more we practise and improve this, the better our relationship and cooperation skills become.

The 17th goal of the United Nations is entitled“Partnerships to achieve the goals“. It emphasizes the importance of strong global partnerships and good international cooperation for the achievement of all sustainability goals.

It emphasizes that only by joining forces and sharing knowledge, technologies and financial resources can the major challenges of our time – from combating poverty to climate protection – be overcome.
Every organization can make a contribution to this. Here are three examples:

  • Skilled trades: Skilled trades businesses can enter into partnerships with vocational schools and further education institutions to offer internships and apprenticeships. These partnerships promote vocational training and the local labor market, thus securing the future of the skilled trades.
  • Hotel industry: Hotels could work with environmental organizations to support programs to preserve local natural areas and promote biodiversity. This could be done, for example, by setting up an information center that educates guests about local ecosystems and offers excursions to protected areas.
  • Sports clubs: Tennis clubs could partner with local schools to offer affordable tennis programs for children and youth. This cooperation not only promotes the physical activity and health of young people, but also strengthens social ties within the community and supports the personal development of young people.
